Gun Violence Prevention Advocate,
It’s an exciting time for gun safety: after Congress passed the historic Bipartisan Safer Communities Act and strengthened gun background checks after the Uvalde massacre, now we have the chance to enact a new federal rule to move us closer to truly universal background checks. But we need your help to do it.
The Department of Justice has proposed a new rule that would require more firearm dealers who have historically sold weapons in off-book sales to do background checks on all gun sales. This new rule would close the deadly gap in regulation and would prevent more guns from getting into the hands of potentially dangerous people who are already prohibited from possessing guns.1 It could save countless lives in Pennsylvania and across the country
The proposed rule is now open for public comments, which will be considered when deciding to formally enact the rule. Here’s where we need your help.
Gun extremists are trying to derail this progress, mobilizing thousands of comments against this life-saving regulation.
