John, good news: Michigan is expected to stay in session until THIS FRIDAY. That means we have one more opportunity to get National Popular Vote passed in the state – which would put us just 50 electoral votes away from fixing the broken Electoral College for good. But we can’t get NPV passed without you.
You’ve probably heard time and time again that our Electoral College system is broken. What else could explain two of the last six presidents getting fewer votes than their opponent?
You know as well as I do how much influence just one presidential term can have – we feel decades-long impacts from decisions like Supreme Court nominations, executive orders, and even declaring war.
With so much power vested in the office, we can’t afford to stand by and simply hope that the Electoral College will match the will of the voters.
And John, that’s why I won’t just stand by – I’m taking action. As I write you, our team is on the ground in Michigan, convincing key legislators to bring NPV up for a vote – because we’re confident we have enough votes to get it passed!
And if we win in Michigan, we’ll be just 50 electoral votes away from National Popular Vote taking full effect – and fixing our broken Electoral College for good.
John, victory is in our sights – if we can seize this moment. That’s why I’m going all in on passing NPV and asking you to join me.
But this fight isn’t without opposition. You see, the Electoral College was created in part because the framers of the Constitution wanted “well-educated” white men to make the final call on who becomes president.
That’s not the kind of democracy you and I believe in today.
That’s why I’m writing to you right now. The Electoral College incentivizes presidential candidates to ignore 65% of voters in their campaigns, and keeps on sticking us with undemocratic outcomes.
Every vote should matter, plain and simple. And with your help, we could make this a reality.
Can I count on you to chip in $3 or more today to help pass National Popular Vote and secure a better democracy for us all?
Thank you for your continued support,
