Because checks are still coming in the mail, I have not yet totaled the receipts the Southern Virginia Leadership has raised. I do know, because many of you stepped up, that we were able assist the closest races in the Senate and House of Delegates.

OFFICES

After many warnings regarding fire safety that would not be approved if we were a private building and increased concerns about asbestos that required monthly air checks, the decision was made to replace the General Assembly Building. The decision was made for the safety of thousands of children and citizens every year.

This fall we are moving into the newly completed building. As of now, I have yet to find out where my office will be. We will let you know when we find out. I hope that you will have the opportunity to visit us.

WORRIES OF WAR

Currently, we have a very unstable world. In no small part because President Biden has no clear vision of what is best for America. The war in Ukraine is undefined. Few know what our goal is and how we will achieve anything other than draining our economy. With the recent attacks on the people of Israel, he seems incapable of forcefully demanding American citizens be freed much less strong enough statements in support of Israel. Meanwhile, he equivocates on issues involving China and North Korea and our friends in Taiwan and South Korea.



TERRORISM AROUND US

We know that millions of illegal aliens are crossing our borders. What we do not know is how many are terrorists that will attack us from within. Are any of these instigating college students to riot and endanger their fellow classmates?

SURGERY

This past Friday, I went into surgery that will keep me off the road for several weeks. I want everyone to know that Cindy will keep our office functioning as professionally as she has for many years. She will keep me abreast of the issues that constituents will be calling, emailing, or writing about. As always, we and my House colleagues will do our best to look for solutions to the problems you are having with the state government.

I intend to follow the doctor’s orders to be fully ready to enjoy the coming holidays and be fully prepared for the 2024 session. If things go as I expect, I will serve as chairman of the Committee on Finance and Appropriations.
