When the Left Says, “Border Security,” They Mean Increasing the Flow
- President Biden is asking Congress for $13.6 billion in “border security funding.”
- But when the Left says, “border security,” they don’t mean securing the border, they mean increasing the flow.
- The president’s $13.6 billion request includes funding for additional Customs and Border Protection officers to process more illegal aliens quickly into the U.S. and buy more plane and bus tickets to move illegal aliens to the nation’s interior faster.
- Biden’s request would fund more federal bureaucrats to hand out work permits faster. It would cut travel time and costs for people not authorized to come to America by paying to fly illegal immigrants directly in rather than having to walk to the border.
- Customs and Border Protection announced that they encountered over 2.4 million inadmissible aliens at the southern border in fiscal year 2023, which ended Sept. 30. The funding sought by Biden’s request would make the border crisis worse.

The Shocking Antisemitism After Hamas Attack Is Deja Vu All Over Again
- It’s truly shocking to see on college campuses such vicious anti-Semitism and support for Hamas’s brutal, violent attack on Israel—in which Hamas barbarians murdered, tortured, raped, and beheaded men, women, and children, including babies.
- But for those who know American history, all of this has happened before. These pro-Hamas, anti-Semitic groups, many of which are organized by ethnic Palestinians, are just like the infamous German American Bund of the 1930s.
- Hamas’s tyrannical rule over Gaza sounds remarkably like the 1930s in Nazi Germany.
- The fact that it is happening again in America and that we have active organizations, just like the German American Bund, should scare us. We have to stamp this out now before it spreads even further and gets out of control like a wildfire.
- That starts with school administrators, the media, government officials, Hollywood, and others no longer making excuses for the vocal supporters of Hamas. They should be criticized, condemned, and prosecuted when they engage in violence and threats, and made to suffer the personal and professional consequences of what they are doing, including losing jobs.

2023: The Year of Education Freedom
- For too long, education choice was held up by powerful forces on the left. But state lawmakers, largely inspired by a strong parental rights movement, have made 2023 the Year of Education Freedom, and Heritage’s 2023 Education Freedom Report Card, which will be unveiled later this week, will detail how this is playing out in each state.
- In 2023, more state lawmakers empowered parents and students with new K–12 education opportunities by creating education savings accounts and account-style options.
- Legislators in several states have adopted new parent bills of rights that affirm mothers and fathers as their children’s primary caregivers.
- These reforms, including addressing the racial prejudice caused by DEI offices on college campuses, are crucial changes to give every student a chance to succeed.
