John,

Today marks seven years since the most recent reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act. This bill expired last February, leaving women and survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking without crucial support and services for over a year.

Now, the most recent VAWA bill sits unauthorized in a gridlocked Senate because Mitch McConnell refuses to act.

Enough is enough. We deserve leadership that stands up for all Americans -- and that starts with reauthorizing VAWA. If you agree, add your name now.

King claims that he voted in favor of the bill in 2013, but he really voted “yea” on a watered-down bill that would replace VAWA entirely. Last year, King didn’t even try to hide his vote or lie to constituents about it -- he just voted against it and countless survivors who depend on these services.

This shouldn’t shock us -- Steve King has a history of openly misogynistic comments. From saying there are no rights that men have that women don’t have, to valuing women primarily for their role as mothers, it’s clear that Steve King does not support women.

We need to hold politicians like King accountable. It’s time to take action.

It’s time for Steve King to put the safety of his constituents before special interests. Sign the petition today and demand Steve King and Congress reauthorize VAWA.

Thank you for your support,

Team Scholten
