If you’re like me, you’re glued to the TV right now, watching the returns from Ohio. We don’t know which way it will go, but we do know that this election will be heavily impacted by voter suppression. A new Ohio state law no longer allows voters to use documents such as utility bills as identification at the ballot. Voters either have a photo ID, or they don’t vote.

You follow this substack so you know that 26 million American adults don’t have photo ID. That’s 11% of the adult population in this country. 11% of the adult population in Ohio is over 1 million people. The margins of victory in this race will not be that wide.

This is but a preview of what we are going to see in 2024. Make no mistake, next year is going to be dirty and painful and traumatic for this country. The only people who will suffer more than those who can vote, will be those whose vote has been stolen.

365 days to the election.

The playbook is clear. Suppression is real. And it’s up to every one of us to stop it.

Help us fight voter suppression in 2024
