The October NEWsflash
Friend,

Welcome back to the October edition of The NEWsflash, a collection of stories and happenings from Northeast Wisconsin over the past month. October was another busy month where my team and I celebrated local businesses, connected with veterans in our communities, and heard from constituents on important issues.

I've included some photos and highlights from a few of the events my team and I were able to attend. You can also find information on how my office can help you with any federal problem you may have. As always, please don't hesitate to contact my office if we can ever be of assistance.

Semper Fi,
At Attention: Wisconsin Army Cadets, a program that helps youth from ages 13 to 20 explore military careers, held its graduation ceremony at the Appleton National Guard Armory on October 22. During the program, recruits attended monthly weekend drills and developed self-confidence, leadership, teamwork, and communication skills. Congratulations to each of the graduates!
Fall Harvest Fest: On October 19, a member of my staff attended the annual Fall Harvest Festival hosted by The Salvation Army of Greater Green Bay. During the event, individuals and families throughout the community enjoyed a night of fun that consisted of trunk-or-treat, games, and dinner for everyone to enjoy.
Honoring Local Heroes: On October 18, a member of my staff welcomed home veterans of Old Glory Honor Flight Mission 65 at the Appleton International Airport. Among the veterans who traveled to Washington, D.C., there were 20 Hmong veterans who assisted troops during the Vietnam war and 78 other veterans ranging from the Korean, Vietnam and Second World Wars. I extend my sincere thanks to each of these veterans for their unwavering service to the United States.
Christening Clean Everglades: On October 24, a member of my staff attended the christening of a new 340-foot-long LNG barge, "Clean Everglades," at Bay Shipbuilding in Sturgeon Bay. The barge is designed to transport liquified natural gas and will head to Jacksonville, Florida, over the next month.
Exceptional Equestrians: A member of my team attended the ribbon cutting event for Wisconsin's first sensory trail located at Exceptional Equestrians, a non-profit that provides hippotherapy, adaptive riding, and other learning programs in De Pere. Congratulations to Executive Director Lisa Kafka and the entire Exceptional Equestrians team on such an outstanding addition!
Community Update: On October 17, my team attended the monthly H2ALOS meeting held at the Lawrence Town Hall. During the meeting, local community leaders provided updates and heard from the Brown County Emergency Management Director, Daniel Kane, on ways communities can plan for and handle emergency situations.
Opening Up Shop: On October 12, a member of my staff attended the ribbon cutting event for StretchLab that is located on the north side of Appleton. StretchLab offers clients a deeper stretch from their team of highly trained flexologists. Congratulations to the entire StretchLab team on the opening of their new location!
Welcome to NEW: This month, my staff attended the ribbon cutting and grand opening for Prime IV Hydration & Wellness in Appleton. This is one of the two Prime IV locations in Wisconsin. Rob Barron and his team of registered nurses are specially trained to provide IV therapy including NAD therapy to treat a myriad of symptoms and ailments. Congratulations to the Prime IV team and welcome to NEW!
