We are one year out from the 2024 election. One year from today, the Presidency, all 435 seats in the House of Representatives, and 33 Senate seats will be up for grabs.

We have so much at stake next November and the elections will make a huge impact in deciding the path forward. Elections at every level will determine whether to invest in education, housing, health care, and many other critically needed programs, and whether the right to vote will be protected.

As of October 2023, at least 16 states have enacted 29 voter suppression laws—the only year in the past decade that has seen more voter suppression laws passed was 2021, when 33 were passed.¹

States have enacted 11 new laws to make voting by mail less accessible. They do this by enacting stricter voter ID requirements, shortening the period for requesting or casting a mail ballot, banning the use of dropboxes, and criminalizing the act of returning a mail ballot on behalf of someone else.²

These laws disproportionately impact people with disabilities, people living in rural areas, and Black and Native American populations.

Our democracy only works when everyone has their voice heard and every eligible person is registered and has easy access to the ballot box.

Last year, activists like you helped us expand the ways we help people access their right to vote—creating fact sheets, hosting webinars, and providing Spanish translations, setting up voter ID clinics and coordinating rides for voters from homeless shelters, and reaching out to voters in rural areas, including rural Georgia.
