Even though it won’t be a woman at the top of the ticket — we must fight to make sure that women are represented in the next administration and lifted up by our future Democratic nominee.

We demand every candidate commits to representing women, in particular women of color, and ensuring racial, religious & gender identity representation in the next administration.

This includes selecting a woman for Vice President and women for at least half of all presidential appointments.

John,

Earlier this week, Elizabeth Warren announced the end of her campaign for president.

It was a heartbreaking reminder John of the difficult path women face when running for office. It is evident that sexism and misogyny are alive and well – denying qualified, intelligent leaders the platform we deserve in public service. Women lead businesses, families, communities, and should have equal opportunity to lead our country away from this bleak road we are on.

Senator Warren was the last female candidate in the race with a path to the White House and though it won’t be a woman at the top of the ticket — we must fight to make sure women are leading in the next administration. The only way to guarantee that women’s issues stay on the agenda is if women are the ones setting it.

That’s why today we’re proud to announce that a group of leading women’s organizations is working together to demand that all remaining presidential candidates commit to the following demands:

  • Appoint women who share our values of justice and equality to at least half of all presidential appointments including the Cabinet
  • Select a woman for Vice President
  • Ensure racial, religious, and gender identity representation for all presidential appointments

Add your name John to the petition we’re sending to every remaining presidential candidate. Let’s show them that thousands of Americans agree that if we want real change for women, we need women leading that change from inside the White House.

I believe a woman’s place is in the White House →

Women always make history, and we are proud of so many of the women who have taken leadership positions at every level of the campaign trail. When women run for elected office, we consistently push our issues into the spotlight. Because of them, and because of us, we know that we can and will build an America that everyone can say yes to, with no exceptions.

Especially now in the age of Trump, it is so critical women are the ones leading the fight to speak out against his bigoted, hate-filled administration.

It fills us with hope knowing that over the past three years, we have seen more women running for and winning elected office than at any time in our entire history. We’ve seen them best men on the debate stage and we’ve seen them persist through sexist attacks in the media and among their peers.

We know there’s a better tomorrow for us, and we call upon each presidential candidate to lead us there, making the road to justice and equality with women by his side.

That’s why we’re demanding every remaining candidate commit to selecting a woman for Vice President, appointing women to at least half of all appointments, and ensuring racial, religious, & gender identity representation in their administration.

Help make sure our demands are heard loud & clear by the remaining candidates: Add your name and stand with women, femmes, & allies across the country who agree progress for women will only happen if we have women leading on the inside.

We hope that we can start this petition with a big wave of momentum.

Please forward this email to your friends, family members, and co-workers so we can start building an administration that works for all of us.

Thanks,

Women's March Team
