You might have heard that Congressman Johnson — who represents a district in the South and who sits on the Judiciary Committee — was elected by the Republicans as Speaker. I want to make doubly sure you know — that’s not me; it’s a different Congressman Johnson.
With all the Republicans running and dropping out of the Speaker race, it was only a matter of time until someone with my last name was the candidate.

John — Democrats have been committed to working toward a bipartisan path forward in the immediate future in order to get things done, but Republicans kept nominating MAGA Speaker candidates until one of them got through.
In the long run, the only way to end the chaos is for Democrats to take the majority and govern like adults — adults who are all in on putting people over politics.
