Last week, I wrote to you about amazing progress in Brazil – more than 800,000 hectares of Indigenous lands have been recognized this year! On the heels of these victories, Amazonian Indigenous leaders have asked our team to join them at COP28, the UN’s conference on climate change, to demand global action for the rainforest and show that defending Indigenous lands is the best way to protect the Amazon.
This is a huge honor. We’re answering the call just three weeks before COP28. Our team is bringing their legal, advocacy, and communications expertise to amplify Indigenous voices on the global stage, and we need your help. Will you support our delegation with a donation today? Your gift will be matched 2 for 1!
Generous donors are matching all donations leading up to COP28, up to $100,000!
Why is this COP so important? Amazon Watch and allies are calling for a global pact to permanently protect the remaining rainforest by 2025. Yet, destructive industries like mining and oil threaten this goal. We need world leaders to recognize that honoring Indigenous land rights is the best way to protect the Amazon and our climate. We need them to act now before it’s too late.
Will you join us on the road to permanently protect the Amazon by 2025 with a gift today? All donations this month will be matched by generous donors, up to $100,000! This goal supports this delegation and our campaigns to stop rainforest destruction and secure Indigenous rights, from the Amazon to the halls of COP28.
We’ve worked in solidarity with Indigenous partners for more than 27 years. With your support, we will keep accompanying Indigenous peoples stopping destructive industries, securing land rights, and defending the rainforest.
For the Amazon and Mother Earth,
Leila Salazar-López
Executive Director
P.S. A monthly donation to Amazon Watch is a great way to join Indigenous Earth Defenders all the way along the road to 2025!
