The overturning of Roe v. Wade last year stripped millions of women of access to abortion overnight. This disastrous Supreme Court decision was a huge blow to our fundamental rights, but Americans have been fighting back.
Since the overturning of Roe, voters across the country have made it resoundingly clear that they do not support the GOP’s extreme agenda on abortion. Several states passed ballot measures protecting reproductive rights – and today, millions of voters in Ohio will vote on an amendment that would add reproductive rights to the state constitution.
The resilience Americans have demonstrated in response to the extremist GOP attacks on reproductive rights has been incredible. But, friend, not every state allows voters to pass ballot measures. The truth is, until we pass federal legislation to restore the protections under Roe, millions of people will be denied access to abortion in Republican-controlled states and millions more in states like ours will be in danger while the GOP continues pushing for a federal abortion ban.
With anti-choice Republicans in control of the House, that federal action won’t happen – especially under Speaker Mike Johnson, who has openly advocated for and backed multiple bills that would ban abortion nationwide and criminalize providers. That’s why we need to ensure Democrats take back the House. Will you chip in to reelect Lori and help flip the House blue in 2024?
