Last month, House Republicans chose Rep. Mike Johnson from Louisiana as the new Speaker of the House. Let us catch you up on some of his far-right views. (Hint: they’re about as extreme as they come…)

Mike Johnson is an ardent opponent of LGBTQ+ rights, going so far as to support a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage in Louisiana.

As a state legislator, he introduced the Marriage and Conscience Act, which would allow people to discriminate against same-sex married couples. In Congress, he introduced a bill mimicking Ron DeSantis’ “Don’t Say Gay” law from Florida.

Johnson has openly attacked the LGBTQ+ community with homophobic comments — but despite all of this, House Republicans came together to elect him Speaker.

As the first openly gay Senator in our nation’s history, Tammy’s taken up the mantle to fight back against anti-LGBTQ+ discrimination and protect same-sex marriage through her work.
