Dear John,
Today, NIAC Action and 20 organizations including American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), Asian Americans Advancing Justice (AAJC), and the National Immigration Law Center (NILC) publicly called [[link removed]] on Congress to remove discriminatory restrictions targeting Iranian, Chinese, and other visa holders in the U.S. from the annual defense policy bill. The “Rounds amendment” would ban certain nationals from buying agricultural land — and invites a slippery slope of discrimination on the basis of Iranian national heritage.
Throughout this year, NIAC Action has led calls against a wave of new “alien land laws” that aim to restrict the ability of individuals to purchase property based on national origin.
Over the last two months, NIAC Action members have conducted dozens of meetings to raise their concerns with lawmakers. NIAC Action and allied organizations are demanding the Rounds amendment not become law, either by being removed or amended to safeguard the civil liberties of targeted immigrant groups, including people from Iran.
See our demand to congress [[link removed]]We are proud of the coalition of organizations in this fight against discrimination and will continue to stand up for the civil rights of Iranian Americans and all immigrant communities.
Your support has been critical to our success thus far and we depend on donations from individuals like you to keep progressing. Please help boost this effort by making a donation to our work to protect the rights of Iranian Americans below.
