National Security and the Environment |
NOVEMBER 15 | 10:00 a.m. ET |
|
|
In partnership with the National Democratic Institute |
The authoritarian exploitation of the world’s natural resources — with China and Russia at the forefront — is increasingly an issue of national and global security. By controlling key resources, these regimes strengthen their economic growth, exert influence on markets and political factions, and leave local communities exposed to environmental exploitation and degradation with little political recourse.
Simultaneously, government institutions are seeking to stem the worldwide rise in authoritarianism, and to demonstrate the ability of democracies to better deliver on the issues that matter to citizens globally, like the environment. Join Foreign Policy and the National Democratic Institute on November 15th to hear from changemakers and global leaders on what more needs to be done to ensure that we protect our democracies and our planet. |
