During last year’s midterms, PACs contributed over $467 million to federal candidates, Republicans and Democrats. This obscene amount of spending sends a troubling message to the American public that lawmakers are working for wealthy donors, not We the People. 

Is it any wonder that public trust in the federal government has hit record lows, with fewer than 2 in 10 Americans saying they trust Washington to do what’s right? The good news is that there is a way for Congress to regain the public’s trust, and that’s by pledging not to take PAC money.

I founded the bipartisan No PAC Caucus and I am one of three members because I’m tired of watching corporations and lobbyists attempt to corrupt our democracy. I’ve never taken a dime of PAC money, and I never will. Getting big money out of politics will put the government back on track and protect the integrity of our institutions. 

I’ve proposed a bill that would ban all PAC and lobbyist money. But until Congress can get its act together and deliver comprehensive anti-corruption reform, every member of Congress should join me and take the No PAC pledge.  No lobbyist money, no leadership PACs, no corporate PACs–no corruption.
