Fellow American,
For far too long, the challenges we’re facing in rural America have been given short shrift in Washington. To many coastal and big city lawmakers, we’re simply “flyover” country.
They couldn’t be more wrong... and I’m proud to be leading the charge to put that ill-conceived notion to rest!
Last month, I joined forces with three other Midwestern members of the U.S. Senate to launch the Bipartisan Rural Working Group. Our mission is to address the challenges facing rural communities across America – with the help of advocates from a variety of issue areas – and bring results-focused policy proposals to the front and center in Washington.
You can read more about the launch of this working group here.
As I stated last month during our kickoff event, rural America is NOT “flyover” country.
We are the heartland of our great nation, full of wonderful people who help feed and fuel the world!
The fact is, we do have unique priorities in rural America – like expanding broadband access and predictability for farmers and ranchers.
I’m proud to be part of the important effort to develop SOLUTIONS for rural America, and I’ll be sure to keep you updated on our work as we move forward.
