Hi John.
TODAY is your chance to tell senators to make groceries less expensive.
Bill C-234 would remove the carbon tax from natural gas and propane used on farms. But the bill was amended to keep farmers paying the carbon tax to heat their barns. When the government makes it more expensive to heat barns, your eggs and milk will continue to cost a lot.
The Senate needs to reject this amendment and pass the original bill.
Here’s how important this fight is:
I recently talked to a family member who is a chicken farmer here in Saskatchewan. He showed me his natural gas bill.
For his average sized chicken farm of just two barns, he is paying more than $1,100 per month in carbon tax.
That massive bill makes it more expensive for him to do his job. It doesn’t take a PhD in economics to realize bigger heating bills for farmers will push up the price tag for roast chicken at the grocery store.
TODAY senators are voting on this amendment so you need to act NOW.
For the sake of farmers trying to make ends meet and for the sake of your wallet, farmers need a break from the carbon tax.
Please email the senators voting on the bill and let them know they need to take carbon taxes off all farm fuels. Here are their emails (we made them easy to copy and paste):
