John,

Today's King's Speech offered communities no hope for the cost of living crisis or the climate emergency.

Instead, Rishi Sunak decided: when in a climate hole, keep digging.

It was yet another missed opportunity to tackle the climate emergency and transform our economy.

Because we know that the solution to these crises lie in investing in renewables and building a mass home insulation programme. Not in granting new oil and gas licenses, throwing a wrecking ball at our climate.

Would Labour be prepared to undo the damage inflicted on the climate by the Conservatives today and commit to not grant a single new oil and gas licence from day one of a Labour government?

It is crystal clear that - regardless of who is in power after the next General Election - we need more Green MPs than ever before to push for legislation that keeps fossil fuels in the ground and leads to a greener and fairer country for everyone.
