‘INSTEAD OF HOLDING UP AID TO ISRAEL FOR ADDITIONAL UKRAINE FUNDING, CONGRESS
SHOULD GIVE THE SITUATION IN ISRAEL THE SEPARATE DEBATE AND VOTE THAT IT
DESERVES’(The Hill
<[link removed]>
) -- The horrific terrorist attack against Israel by Hamas, funded and
supported by the Islamic Republic of Iran, has left over 1,400 Israelis dead,
along with at least thirty American citizens.
The United States’ closest ally and strategic partner in the Middle East is
well equipped to respond to this escalating war and defend its people, but
military support from the U.S. will be necessary in the coming weeks.
Having failed to force through more Ukraine funding by tying it to disaster
relief for Americans, Senate leadership is now using the crisis in Israel as a
“Plan B” to get the Biden administration’s funding request across the finish
line — this time by as much as $100 billion.
But the conflicts in Ukraine and Israel are two distinct events that deserve
two distinct responses.
Instead of holding up aid to Israel for additional Ukraine funding, Congress
should give the situation in Israel the separate debate and vote that it
deserves.

‘FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS ARE RIGHT TO BE CONCERNED THAT THEY MAY NEVER SEE A
RETURN ON LOANS ISSUED TO ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS’(Fox News
<[link removed]>
<[link removed]>
) -- A Republican senator led every Senate Banking Committee Republican in a
letter to the Biden administration about a recent joint directive on illegal
immigrants being approved for loans.
The letter from Ohio GOP Senator J.D. Vance is a response to an Oct. 12
directive from the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Consumer Financial
Protection Bureau (CFPB) warning lenders against solely denying lines of credit
for mortgages, auto and other loans due to a borrower's immigration status.
Signed by every member of the GOP members of the Senate Banking Committee, the
letter to the Attorney General Merrick Garland and CFPB Director Rohit Chopra
argues that the joint directive flies in the face of sound lending practices.
"If someone is deported to their home country, how is a bank in Ohio supposed
to recoup the loan it was forced to issue?" Vance said. "The federal government
should be cracking down on illegal immigration - not encouraging more of it."

‘THE NATIONAL LEADERSHIP RECOGNIZES THIS IS AN IMPORTANT FACILITY’ (
Springfield News-Sun
<[link removed]>
<[link removed]>) --
Republican U.S. Sen. JD Vance said the work done at the Ohio Air National Guard
178th Wing base at the Springfield-Beckley Airport is important to maintaining
national security and carrying out intelligence missions during a visit there
Friday.
The Ohio senator said that he learned about the base’s mission — to support
federal and state missions through attacks, intelligence, surveillance and
reconnaissance while being involved in the local community — and the impact
that it has on safety, the economy and more.
“I learned a lot today about the role that these guys have in America’s
national security sand assessing national intelligence, and really keeping us
safe all over the world, so I’m proud to have them here,” Vance said. “I’m
proud of what they do, and most of all I’m just grateful for them for the
mission they do.”

‘WE SAW COUNTLESS ABUSES OF AUTHORITY THROUGHOUT THE COVID PANDEMIC, AND THE
AMERICAN PEOPLE WERE JUSTIFIABLY ENRAGED BY UNSCIENTIFIC MASK MANDATES’(
Cleveland.com
<[link removed]>
<[link removed]>
) -- The U.S. Senate on Wednesday approved a proposal introduced by Ohio’s JD
Vance that would block the Department of Transportation from using any federal
money to enforce mask mandates in response to COVID-19 through the current
fiscal year.
“The era of mask mandates caused a lot of problems,” said Vance. “It caused
problems for our kids and caused developmental delays for school children. It
caused a lot of rancor and a lot of division within our common American family.
If people want to wear masks, of course, they should be able to. But if people
don’t want to wear masks on airplanes, on transit, they should have that option
as well. And that’s all that my amendment does.”
After the vote, Vance released a statement that called the amendment’s passage
“a massive victory for personal freedom in this country.”
“We saw countless abuses of authority throughout the COVID pandemic, and the
American people were justifiably enraged by unscientific mask mandates,” Vance
continued. “Today, the United States Senate took an emphatic step toward common
sense and individual liberty.”

‘TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY DAYS HAVE PASSED SINCE THE DISASTROUS TRAIN DERAILMENT,
YET CONGRESS HAS STILL NOT PASSED COMMONSENSE RAILWAY SAFETY LEGISLATION’(Times
Leader
<[link removed]>
<[link removed]>) -- It’s been
nine months since the Feb. 3 Norfolk Southern train derailment in East
Palestine and eight months since U.S. Sen. J.D. Vance, R-Ohio, along with U.S.
Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, introduced the bipartisan Railway Safety Act of
2023. On Thursday, Vance voiced both frustration and exasperation that the
legislation meant to strengthen rail safety and prevent another disaster like
East Palestine has stalled.
“Two hundred and fifty days have passed since the disastrous train derailment
in East Palestine, Ohio. Yet Congress has still not passed commonsense railway
safety legislation to prevent something like this from happening again,” said
Vance. “Enough is enough – it’s time for the Senate to pass the Railway Safety
Act.”

‘GREAT TO VISIT THE AUTO WORKERS STRIKING IN TOLEDO… THEY’RE IN HIGH SPIRITS
AND HAVE A SIMPLE MESSAGE: GOOD WAGES FOR AN HONEST DAY’S WORK’(WDTN
<[link removed]>)--
Senator JD Vance met with striking United Auto Workers in Toledo on Friday.
Sen. Vance visited the Toledo Assembly Complex on the morning of Oct. 6, where
workers are taking part in the UAW strike happening across the country. Vance
talked with workers and showed support for their cause.
“Great to visit the auto workers striking in Toledo this morning,” Vance said
in a release. “They’re in high spirits and have a simple message: good wages
for an honest day’s work. I’m proud to support them.”

‘THE U.S. AUTO INDUSTRY HAS FALLEN VICTIM TO OFFSHORING AND STAGNATING
PRODUCTIVITY’(Newsweek
<[link removed]>
<[link removed]>
) -- Seventy years ago, the CEO of General Motors could say that "what's good
for General Motors is good for America." The auto industry was booming,
building upon its wartime expansion as the "arsenal of democracy." Workers
shared in the industry's prosperity. A job in the American auto industry
delivered an income that could comfortably support a family, and autoworkers
found peace of mind in working toward a secure retirement.
But the same cannot be said today. The U.S. auto industry has fallen victim to
offshoring and stagnating productivity. While some sectors—particularly tech
and finance—have done well, wages in other industries have stagnated. And it's
become nearly impossible to raise a middle-class family on a single income.
The Biden administration would rather shutter every combustion engine facility
in Ohio than admit their EV pipedream is crushing our auto industry.
Autoworkers in Cleveland, Defiance, Sharonville, Anna, Lima, Toledo and across
the Midwest will be left in the breach—casualties of the far Left's religious
zeal for electric vehicles.
Ohioans have too much to lose. Our state builds more internal combustion
engines than any other in our union. Now is the time to reject Joe Biden's
disastrous obsession with electric vehicles and rescue the American auto
industry.

‘THE LAST THING THE STATE DEPARTMENT SHOULD BE DOING IS WASTING ITS TIME AND
YOUR TAX DOLLARS PUSHING FAR-LEFT GENDER IDEOLOGY’(The Daily Signal
<[link removed]>
<[link removed]>
) -- FIRST ON THE DAILY SIGNAL: Sen. J.D. Vance is introducing legislation
requiring a person’s actual, biological gender on their United States passports.
The Ohio Republican’s Passport Sanity Act would require the secretary of state
to ensure that all applications for passports, passport cards, or Consular
Report of Birth Abroad documentation include only the gender designations of
male and female, prohibiting any passport documentation that includes the
unspecified X gender designation.
“The last thing the State Department should be doing is wasting its time and
your tax dollars pushing far-left gender ideology,” Vance told The Daily
Signal. “There are only two genders—passports issued by the United States
government should recognize that simple fact. I am proud to introduce this bill
to restore some sanity in our federal bureaucracy.”

‘WHAT BIDEN IS DOING IS DISGUSTING’ (Breitbart
<[link removed]>
) -- Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) and others ripped President Joe Biden for using
Hamas’s terrorist attack in Israel as a way to try and leverage aid for
Ukraine. Vance emphasized that they are separate countries and issues.
“What Biden is doing is disgusting. He’s using dead children in Israel to sell
his disastrous Ukraine policy to skeptical Americans,” Vance wrote in a post on
X.
“They are not the same countries, they are not the same problems, and this
effort to use Israel for political cover is offensive,” he added. “Hell no.”

‘MY EDUCATION POLICY IS THAT WE SHOULD STOP FUNDING INSTITUTIONS THAT TEACH
AMERICAN KIDS TO SUPPORT TERRORIST KILLERS’(Breitbart
<[link removed]>
) -- In the wake of anti-Israel rallies across the United States, particularly
on college campuses, following terrorist attacks carried out by Hamas in
Israel, Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) is joining other Republicans in condemning the
nation’s mass immigration policy that has brought terrorist sympathizers to the
United States.
After the attacks on Israel, pro-Hamas rallies broke out across many major
American cities and college campuses with protesters in New York City chanting
“From the river to the sea!” At least one counterterrorism expert has said that
the phrase calls for the extermination of Israel.
Vance, in a Twitter post on Tuesday, wrote that his “education policy is that
we should stop funding institutions that teach American kids to support
terrorist killers” and that his “immigration policy is that we should stop
importing people who already believe those things.”
