Gig workers, who make up 16.4% of the American workforce, aren’t afforded vital labor protections like minimum wage, overtime pay, or the right to collective bargaining.

Postmates, Uber, Instacart, Lyft, DoorDash, Task Rabbit, Rover, Grubhub and more. All services that many of us use frequently. All companies that don’t protect the workers that make their platforms successful.

Platforms like these thrive while they pay their gig workers less than minimum wage. Uber and Lyft have lashed out against repeated attempts to unionize drivers to fight for workers’ rights. This leaves them vulnerable to exploitation, unstable income, and unsafe working conditions.

While individual workers suffer, CEOs and leadership line their pockets with millions. We need to stand up and support the gig workers who provide vital services and contribute to the economy every day.
