It's Election Day, John, and your vote matters more than ever!
To be fully prepared to make your voice heard in this important municipal election, take a moment to review this handy checklist so that you can vote with confidence. -
Confirm your polling location. Make sure you know where to go to cast your vote. You can find your polling place here. All polls in the state are open from 6:00 am - 8:00 pm.
-
Know who’s on your ballot. Research the candidates and issues that will be on your ballot. Familiarize yourself with their platforms and policies so you can make informed choices.
- Plan when you go vote. Consider your work schedule, family commitments, and other responsibilities to determine the best time to visit the polls.
- Remember your identification. A driver's license, Social Security card, or any pre-printed form of identification will do. If you forget it, you can still vote, but you’ll need to sign an affidavit.
- Arrange transportation. If you need a ride to the polling place, make arrangements in advance. Coordinate with friends or family members, or explore local transportation options.
- Dress comfortably. Dress appropriately for the weather and any potential lines at the polling station. You may be waiting for a little while, so comfortable shoes are a good idea.
- Bring snacks and water. Stay energized and hydrated. A bottle of water and a few snacks can keep you going while you wait.
-
Be mindful of the rules. Leave any campaign materials at home, as they are not allowed in the polling place.
-
Prepare to wait. Depending on your polling location and when you arrive, there might be lines. Bring a book, some music, or best of all, a friend or two to make the wait more enjoyable.
-
Share your voting experience. Encourage your friends and family to vote as well. Share your experience on social media and let them know about the importance of participating in the democratic process!
It’s a day to make your voice heard and play a vital role in shaping the future of our communities, state, and nation. It all starts here, with your vote. |
