David Suetterlein depicts Councilwoman Trish White-Boyd as responsible for violent crime, surrounded by police crime-scene tape, in last minute attack mailer.
Usually the candidate-in-the-lead doesn’t go negative first, but David Suetterlein felt he needed to. He has gone all-in on negative campaigning the past few weeks, spending his entire Richmond war chest attacking Trish White-Boyd right before Today's Election .
Trish White-Boyd is the only candidate in a competitive district who does not accept money from the state central party, because she will always prioritize the people of this district (many of whom are party homeless) over party politics. Meanwhile, David Suetterlein’s campaign materials and themes are all directly out of Richmond, where Suetterlein has spent his entire adult life working the Richmond political scene.
Perhaps it is because Trish White-Boyd is such a strong candidate that David Suetterlein has gone so angrily negative. Below is David Suetterlein’s last minute attack piece, along with a thorough debunking of his disgraceful false claims.

David Suetterlein is closing out his campaign with the above attack mailer. When it comes to campaigns, that’s all David Suetterlein knows.
David Suetterlein “rigged the system” to get himself into the Senate in a “smoke-filled back room,” “dirty deal,” that “tarnishes the entire Virginia Senate.” So it’s not surprising that he’s using these last minute “scam-like tactics.” This is not the opinion of the Trish White-Boyd campaign by the way, these quotes are all from leading conservative John Fredericks, of the John Fredericks Media Network (and Virginia’s Republican Campaign Chairman in ‘16 and ‘20), who should be a strong ally for David Suetterlein. Instead, John Fredericks describes “Dishonest” and “Shameful” David Suetterlein as the “The Shyster of Salem.” Please read the full Roanoke Times piece; “Virginia’s New Senator Stooge,” at [link removed] [[link removed]]

Suetterlein’s False Claims
1. “Contributing to radical defund-the-police group Indivisible”
( Trish White-Boyd Contribution Report )
2. “Failed to check to see if money allocated to keep our community safe was even used”
( McDougall, Anna, “Roanoke City Officials React to 88-Page Audit Report of Gun Violence Prevention Commission,” WFXR 7/13/23 )
3. “Backed by architect of radical anti-policing laws that are making Virginia streets less safe”
( VPAP.org )
The Truth
1. Trish White-Boyd contributed $10 to Indivisible in February of 2020. At the time, Indivisible was a new organization, with a sole stated purpose was providing canvassing/phone/texting tools for communities. Not a “ radical defund-the-police group ,” as you see from the screenshot below of their contribution form as it appeared from 2019-2021. After George Floyd’s death in mid-2020, the organization began [[link removed]] any mention of police funding reductions, and Trish White-Boyd rejects any notion of defunding the police. Trish White-Boyd has never and would never contribute to an organization that wants to defund the police.
From the Internet Archives, the Indivisible contribution page looked exactly like the below screenshot in February 2020 at the time Trish contributed $10;

2. “ Failed to check to see …” Tortured phrasing aside, this claim is 100% false. Councilwoman Trish White-Boyd demanded accountability from the gun violence prevention commission and initiated [[link removed]] an audit, which was covered in the media at the time, “Councilwoman Trish White-Boyd, who chairs the city’s audit committee … ‘ I thought that there were a lot of questions that needed to be answered and therefore we needed an audit .’”
From the audit [[link removed]] itself: “ City Council [instructed by Councilwoman Trish White-Boyd, Chair of the Roanoke City Audit Committee] requested an audit of the Gun Violence Prevention Commission in February 2023. ”
3. “ Backed by architect of radical anti-policing laws that are making Virginia streets less safe .” David Suetterlein’s citation of “VPAP.org” does not include any further information, so no one has any idea what he is referring to.
Councilwoman Trish White-Boyd made it a top priority to address violent crime, and she helped bring to Roanoke City the #1 violent crime-reducing Police Chief in Virginia.
So if you want lower taxes, lower bills, and more jobs, definitely vote for Trish White-Boyd on November 7th. What’s more, if you want honesty from your elected officials, Trish White-Boyd is the only candidate in Senate District 4 who has the truth on her side.
Thank you for being a voter!
With Gratitude,
Team Trish on Election Day
