Dear Friend, Senator Tuberville is taking a strong stance against the Pentagon's policy of reimbursing service members for abortion-related travel expenses by putting holds on key military promotions. The policy provides eligible service members with additional leave (up to 21 days) and travel expense reimbursements to obtain abortions, a significant departure from previous regulations and a break with long-standing precedent set by the Hyde Amendment, which prohibits federal funds from being used to pay for abortions except in cases of rape, incest, or if the pregnancy is determined to endanger the woman's life. Senator Tuberville's actions are a direct protest of the Pentagon's failure to obtain congressional approval.
