** Axelrod Questions if It Is ‘Wise’ for Joe Biden to Run in 2024
------------------------------------------------------------

In reaction to the latest New York Times/Siena poll ([link removed]) over the weekend, showing former President Trump leading Joe Biden in five out of six key swing states, CNN political analyst David Axelrod ([link removed]) said the President needs to decide if it is “wise” for him to run as the Democrat nominee in the 2024 presidential race, asking whether doing so is in Biden’s best interest or the country’s.

“It’s very late to change horses; a lot will happen in the next year that no one can predict & Biden’s team says his resolve to run is firm. He’s defied CW before but this will send tremors of doubt thru the party–not ‘bed-wetting,’ but legitimate concern,” Axelrod said.

“The greatest concern is that his biggest liability is the one thing he can’t change. Among all the unpredictables there is one thing that is sure: the age arrow only points in one direction,” Axelrod continued, arguing laughably that Biden is correct to be “proud” of his accomplishments.

Axelrod also made sure to smear Biden’s popular opponent Trump as “a dangerous, unhinged demagogue whose brazen disdain for the rules, norms, laws and institutions or democracy should be disqualifying.”

“But the stakes of miscalculation here are too dramatic to ignore,” he warned. “If he continues to run, he will be the nominee of the Democratic Party. What he needs to decide is whether that is wise; whether it’s in HIS best interest or the country’s?”

I think we all know the answer to that.

Reflecting Axelrod’s constancy in this regard, a Tribune profile two decades later described him as a “ferocious” competitor who was unafraid to use “venom” to poison the campaigns of rivals, or “brass knuckles” to “bludgeon” his foes...
