Folks, many people come to Congress and forget about why they ran in the first place.
Not me. My time as an Army Ranger shaped who I am today.
I went active duty in the Army after 9/11. That took me on three tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The most important lesson I learned in those years was servant leadership.
I met some of the finest men and women during my time in the Army. There were Black soldiers, Hispanic soldiers, white soldiers, Asian soldiers. Some rich, some poor. Some were straight. Others gay.
None of that mattered.
What mattered was protecting each other. Through the gunfire. Through the battles. Through war.
Even as I rose up to be Captain, I never forgot what it was like to walk in the shoes of a Private. I was always the last to eat and the first to jump out of the plane.
We are living through an important moment in our history, and our country is calling on each and every one of us to step up.
I don’t like people fighting my battles for me, which is why I’m on the front lines to help restore trust and bring servant leadership. But I can’t do it alone.
Will you pitch in $10 to help bring servant leadership to Congress?
