Hey John, this is kind of a big deal.

The CARES Act Home Confinement Program was signed by President Trump in
March of 2020 during the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and has allowed
more than 13,000 nonviolent incarcerated individuals to serve the
remainder of their sentence at home, instead of federal prison.

These 13,000 individuals got a chance to reconnect with their family and
friends at home and rebuild their lives to prepare themselves for success
once their sentence finished. For many of them, that has already happened.
But for 3,000 people still serving their sentence on home confinement,
disaster is just around the corner, and we need your help to stop it.

[ [link removed] ]Act now to protect 3,000 lives from being unjustly uprooted!

We’ve just gotten word that Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) is leading a
group of Senators in an effort to send the 3,000 people, currently in home
confinement, back to federal prison. Sen. Blackburn’s resolution — S.J.
Res 47— will shatter lives by rolling back the wildly successful CARES Act
Home Confinement Program.

Why fight for the CARES Act?

* It works! Those released on the CARES Act went on to commit another
crime at a rate of 0.2% (that's more than 200 times LESS than normal
recidivism rate of 43%).
* Big impact: Already, more than 10,000 individuals have transitioned to
post release and started their new lives.
* It makes sense: The program eased the strain on our already
overcrowded and understaffed prisons.
* And cents: Reduced what taxpayers pay for incarceration costs by more
than 45%.
* Lives at Risk: 3,000, who are on track to rebuild their lives, could
have that progress destroyed.

The CARES Act is a testament to what meaningful reform can achieve — lower
costs for taxpayers, safer communities, and a chance for individuals to
rebuild their lives.

Time is of the essence! Make sure your voice is heard! [ [link removed] ]Sign this
petition now to urge President Biden to stand against S.J. Res 47 and
preserve the just and successful CARES Act.
