Secretary of State Pleased with Interim Committee Legislation Advancing Election Integrity and Security for Wyoming

*? ? ?CHEYENNE, WY*?? October 26th and 27th marked the last interim meeting of the Joint Corporations, Elections, and Political Subdivisions Committee before the 2024 Legislative Session. During the 2023 interim session, the committee considered and forwarded a number of bill drafts requested by Secretary of State Chuck Gray, including a bill which will impose a durational residency requirement to register to vote in Wyoming, a bill prohibiting private funding of elections, and bills eliminating ambiguities related to school board elections and special district vacancies.

? ? ??I am grateful for the collaborative effort that led to several committee-sponsored bills advancing election integrity and security,? Secretary Gray said in a statement. ?Specifically, the committee considering and adopting our proposals to create a durational residency requirement to register to vote in Wyoming and to ban private funding of elections are key steps for election integrity. While I would like the durational residency requirement bill to be even stronger, it is a good step in the right direction.? These bills are not only integral to increasing election integrity and security, but they will also protect Wyoming from troubling trends threatening election security across the country. As we approach the 2024 Budget Session, I look forward to continuing to work with members of the Legislature on meaningful reforms to advance election integrity and election security in the state of Wyoming.?
