Last year, the National Republican Congressional Committee told me to “retire or lose.”

That’s right. Outside interest groups and dark-money organizations were so confident that they were going to defeat me, that they issued an ultimatum.

Retire or lose.

Well, I chose neither. And the reason I’m still in Congress serving the people of Middle and Southwest Georgia is because of grassroots supporters like you, friend. Your contributions and your effort pushed our campaign to victory, despite the odds.

The Blue Dog Democrats are made of people who are deeply rooted in their districts, who understand how to bring their constituents' voices to Congress, and who are determined to do right by the people who elected them.

Look — we have a plan to restore order to the House by electing more candidates who will put their constituents over party politics. But a crucial part of that plan is for members like me and other Blue Dogs in competitive districts to successfully defend against extremist challengers.

I know that special interests will try again to defeat us in Georgia’s 2nd District, and in close races all across the country, which is why it’s so important that we’re prepared.
