John,
The United States has suffered 597 mass shootings so far this year.
The unfortunate reality is that millions of Americans live in fear of being gunned down while getting groceries, going to work, or having a simple outing with their families. We see too many innocent lives being cut short at the hands of inadequate gun safety legislation.
Add your name to my petition right now to stop the cycle of gun violence and stand up for gun safety.

Illinois is no stranger to this crisis. Just two weeks ago, a man senselessly injured 15 people after open firing at a Halloween party in Chicago. Highland Park is still recovering from the July 4th mass shooting last year.
It’s tragedies like these that plague our nation. As your Senator, I will never be complacent when the lives of our friends, family members, and neighbors are at risk every day due to gun violence.
When is enough enough?
Congress has the ability to take meaningful action to prevent such tragedies from happening. We made progress last year with the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, but more work is ahead. By mandating universal background checks and banning the sale, transfer, and importation of weapons of war, we could save countless lives and make our communities safer.
Will you sign my petition? Your voice is crucial in demanding that Congress take action on gun safety legislation.
