Supporting Our Ally Israel

Last week, House Republicans passed a $14.3 billion aid package that will ensure Israel has the resources it needs to defend itself from Hamas terrorists. Israel needs our support and deserves our aid in a separate, standalone bill. Joe Biden's plan to leverage Israel's needs into billions more for Ukraine is totally unacceptable. Passing a bill that is paid for by recessions from Joe Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act – specifically the funding included for the IRS – was the right thing to do.

Some of the things included in the emergency supplemental package include:

  • $4 billion to replenish Iron Dome and David’s Sling missile defense systems.

  • $3.5 billion in Foreign Military Financing for the procurement of advanced weapons systems and defense articles and services.

  • $1.2 billion for the continued development of the Iron Beam system to counter short-range threats.

  • $1 billion to support artillery and munitions production.

  • $150 million for an enhanced security presence at the US Embassy.

  • $50 million for the evacuation of US citizens.

  • $4.4 billion to replenish domestic defense stockpiles.

Please continue to pray for Israel. What's happening continues to be unconscionable, and it is critical that we continue to stand with Israelis and the folks in the Jewish community while they defend themself against the immoral and horrific war launched by the Hamas and the continued antisemitism throughout the world.

Speaking to the Victoria Economic Development Corporation

I had a great time joining the Victoria Economic Development Corporation to speak at their Partnership Meeting on Tuesday!

I delivered an update on a few issues going on in Washington, D.C, including how we are working to get our country back on a sound, fiscal path through our appropriations process, the crisis at our southern border, and the Israel-Hamas conflict. I also gave an update on the great projects my team and I are working on for the Victoria area, including securing federal funding for the Port of Victoria and supporting the port's Texas Logistics Center.

Thanks to all the great folks who came out!

Celebrating 50+ Years of Marriage

My team and I created a new page on my website dedicated to honoring and celebrating those who are celebrating 50+ years of marriage.

As a member of Congress, it is my privilege to be able to officially recognize those in our Congressional district whom God has blessed in marriage, including those who are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. This incredible milestone is a testament to a husband and wife’s unwavering commitment, faithfulness, and love to one another and their families.

If you or someone you know is celebrating this momentous occasion, click HERE to visit the new webpage and let us know about your or their remarkable journey of 50+ years of marriage!

Ending the Status Quo

Last week, we passed two more appropriations bills for fiscal year 2024 which means we have now passed 7 appropriations bills, totaling roughly 80 percent of funding needed for the year.

As many of you already know, back in January, House conservatives secured a promise from leadership to return to a regular order of spending process, where spending gets divided into 12 individual Appropriations bills on different single subjects. It has been years since Congress has gone through the full appropriations like it’s supposed to. Instead, Congress has handled funding deadlines by first passing a “continuing resolution” — which kicks the proverbial deadline ‘can’ down the road while maintaining status quo spending. Then just before Christmas, all the spending bills are combined into a massive multi-thousand page “omnibus” bill that inflates spending to new levels. This is not acceptable. We cannot continue the status quo.

We have been diligently working in the Appropriations committee and in the House for the past several months to restore regular order by passing single issue spending bills to break free from the status quo and get Congress working again for you.

Video

Tuesday evening, I joined KAVU in studio. Some of the issues we discussed included the deadline of November 18th to cut wasteful spending and pass strong, conservative policy through our single subject, individual spending bills, voting on the Israel aid package, and Biden’s border crisis.
