Hern’s mission is not just to tear down our institutions – like public schools, unions, the FBI, Social Security, Medicare, and the IRS. Hern’s mission is to ensure rich people and big corporations pay no taxes. That’s why he backed a Republican bill that would give 14.5 billion in funds to Israel if billions were cut from IRS funding.
Our allies are under attack and House Speaker MAGA Mike Johnson is using this crisis to help rich tax cheats avoid paying their fair share. It doesn’t matter to MAGA Mike and MAGA Hern that the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office said this bill will end up costing $26 billion due to lost revenue from tax collections. I can’t think of a more cynical piece of legislation.
Hern is telling us once again who he’s fighting for and it’s not the middle class. You’ll never see Hern initiating a bill that ties aid to Israel to raising the minimum wage. If Democrats did that, Hern would be screaming in outrage – just like he did when Democrats supported student debt relief.
Our campaign fully supports President Biden’s stand-alone request for $106 billion to help Israel, provide humanitarian aid, help Ukraine defeat Putin, and help address security at our border with Mexico. Attacks on Israel and Ukraine are facilitated by a Russia - Iran partnership. To be successful, we need a coordinated, dedicated response. We don’t need MAGA politics undermining our efforts to defeat authoritarian aggression.
