We’ve all collectively agreed that “election ad season” is the actual 9th level of Hell, correct- we’re on the same page? Anti-abortion extremists know exactly how important this election season is, especially in Virginia and Ohio- how these states play out will affect, well, every damn one of us! Virginia stands as one of the last southern states that hasn’t restricted abortion yet, but is entirely too fucking close to losing elected seats, while Ohio will set the standard for the rest of the country tomorrow- to codify abortion rights in the constitution or not. It’s fine, we’re totally fine, definitely normal to chew your nails down to the nubs. We’re not worried at all.
VIRGINIA: WHERE WORDS DON’T MATTER ANYMORE
While Ohio is poised to codify abortion rights, Virginia is on the brink of losing control of their senate to conservatives [[link removed]] , almost guaranteeing a 15-week abortion ban. Wait, we’re sorry- apparently we don’t call them bans anymore [[link removed]] ; Virginians are almost guaranteed to have a 15-week… ”reasonable compromise”. Just a reasonable compromise that completely bans- uh, completely prohibits any access to abortion care after 15-weeks, and apparently they definitely probably maybe idk won’t go any further than that [[link removed]] . OHIO: REAL (BUCK)EYES REALIZE REAL LIES
We swear, we’re almost done talking about Ohio, but as the bellwether for abortion access legislative initiatives [[link removed]] for the rest of the country [[link removed]] with Issue 1…fuckery abounds. You know, just little things like quietly purging thousands of voters without time for them to re-register [[link removed]] , anti-abortion language about the amendment pushed on a legislative website [[link removed]] , misleading ballot language [[link removed]] , and even their not-even-close-to-moderate governor is releasing ads [[link removed]] for the opposition! It’s almost like…they know the majority of the state is pro-choice, so they have to resort to trickery to get their way? Seems totally on the up-and-up. Ohioans: do the damn thing.
