Dear team,
Tomorrow is election day in the United States, and abortion is on the ballot in Ohio.
Voters there have an opportunity to enshrine abortion rights in the state's constitution by voting YES on Ohio Issue 1. The proposed amendment protects every Ohioan's "right to make and carry out one's own reproductive decisions."
Even though you won't have the chance to vote on this measure, Ohioans United for Reproductive Rights—the statewide coalition of reproductive health, rights, and justice organizations behind the ballot initiative—needs your help.
Is someone you know voting in Ohio’s elections tomorrow? If so, tell them to vote YES on Ohio Issue 1.
Since Roe v. Wade was overturned in 2022, voters in the U.S. have time and again used their ballots to declare that abortion rights are human rights. Anti-abortion measures have failed in Kansas, Kentucky, and Montana. And in Michigan, California, and Vermont, voters passed initiatives to enshrine abortion rights in their state constitutions.
Tomorrow, Ohioans have a chance to join them. 67% of voters in the state believe it's extremely or very important to protect the right to reproductive freedom, but extremist politicians are still trying to ban abortion at six weeks, and they've already told us they won't stop there. They have used misinformation to try to confuse voters and lied about the need for Issue 1 to protect reproductive rights.
Reach out to your friends and family today and ask them to vote YES on Ohio Issue 1!
My colleagues and I will be watching the results closely. Thank you for taking the time to ensure the Ohioans in your life vote YES and secure another win in the forward fight for reproductive rights!
In solidarity,
Elisabeth Smith
