Democracy is not some lofty principle. It’s not a liberal scheme or a “woke” agenda. It’s a working system that makes life better for the vast majority of Americans—more free, fair and stable on a daily basis.
But, like any working system, democracy needs continuous maintenance. Especially now, it needs defense against attack by those few who seek to dismantle it for their own gain.
This is what the Brennan Center for Justice does. An independent, nonpartisan law and policy organization, it works to reform, revitalize and, when necessary, defend democracy to sustain an America that is fair, just and free—for all.
But the Brennan Center can’t do this alone. We, the people, must support it.
We just did. In October, we donated to the Brennan Center, which will use the grant in its fight to protect our country’s systems of democracy and justice.

working for democracy, equal rights and civil liberties.
