The Equal Rights Amendment passed through Congress in the late '70s, but it unfortunately couldn't muster up the ¾ majority of state ratifications needed before the 1979 deadline ran out.
This is to say: Women still don't have equal rights under our constitution.
Now, we have the chance to fix this. Virginia just became the 38th state to ratify the ERA. The House just voted to extend the amendment's ratification deadline -- we just need the Senate to follow suit. But, this won't be easy in a GOP-controlled Senate.
Women across the country deserve the same rights under our constitution as their male counterparts. Will you make sure that happens?
