Ohio Governor Mike DeWine Week in Review

On *Monday*,Site Selection Magazine announced the 2019 Governors Cup awards [ [link removed] ]. The state of Ohio was first for per capita economic development projects and 2nd overall behind Texas. Ohio is the only state to place in the top three in both the overall and per capita rankings.

Also on*Monday*, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced Ohio'snew Infant Mental Health Credential [ [link removed] ] for early childhood professionals, the first of its kind in the state. This credential provides professional development to support the social-emotional needs of Ohios youngest children. Early childhood professionals who hold this credential will have met the states minimum core standards.

*Monday afternoon,*First Lady Fran DeWine joined Cleveland Browns Executive Vice President JW Johnson, a Cleveland Browns player, and representatives of the Cleveland Browns Foundation to celebrate Read Across America Day.

On *Tuesday*, Lt. Governor Jon Husted spoke at the ribbon cutting of the University of Cincinnatis new Ohio Cyber Range Institute. The range will be a learning and teaching tool for students and educators at the K-12 and collegiate level, a workforce development tool, cyber incident response team training tool, and a test bed for cyber programs and systems.

*Tuesday evening*, Governor DeWine, Columbus Mayor Andrew J. Ginther, andOhio Department of Health Director Amy Acton, M.D., MPHdiscussed the steps they took [ [link removed] ] to ensure the Arnold Classic is a safe event for athletes and the public in light of the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the United States.

On *Wednesday*, Governor DeWine, Lt. Governor Husted, and Ohio Department of Health Director Amy Acton, M.D., MPH,convened a group of health advisors from the Ohio Hospital Association. The group will be advising the Governor as the state continues its preparations for COVID-19.

Also on *Wednesday*,Governor DeWine signed House Bill 276. This road naming bill designates 40 different commemorative highways and bridges throughout Ohio.

On*Thursday*, Governor DeWine, Lt. Governor Husted and Ohio Department of Health Director Amy Acton, M.D., MPH, and other state and local health officials held a summit for local health officials on COVID-19 preparedness.

Attendees heard from Governor DeWine, Lt. Governor Husted, Director Amy Acton, M.D., MPH, representatives from Butler County General Health District, and U.S. Surgeon General VADM Jerome M. Adams, M.D., M.P.H, among various other health officials.

At the summit, Governor DeWine announced that Director Amy Acton, M.D., MPH, issued an order [ [link removed] ]regarding the Arnold Sports Festival held in and around Columbus this weekend.

Governor DeWine also joined 38 governors in sending a letter to Congressional leadership [ [link removed] ] in support of the CoronavirusPreparedness and Response Supplemental Appropriations Act (H.R. 6074).

Also on *Thursday*, Governor DeWine and Lt. Governor Husted announced the creation of the new BroadbandOhio office [ [link removed] ], which will be committed to increasing high-speed internet access across the state by supporting the Ohio Broadband Strategy [ [link removed] ] that was released by InnovateOhio in December 2019.



On *Thursday evening*, Ohios Second Lady, Tina Husted received an Arts for Success leadership award [ [link removed] ]. Mrs. Husted is an accomplished artist, and has donated a number of her works to help raise money for the North Central College Success Center scholarship fund. She also currently sits as a member of the Ohio Arts Council, having been appointed by Governor Mike DeWine.

On *Friday*, Governor DeWine and Lt. Governor Husted joined JobsOhio, the University of Cincinnati, and Cincinnati Childrens Hospital for the launch of the new Cincinnati Innovation District that will support the growth of research, commercialization, and entrepreneurship in Southeast Ohio. This strategy compliments administration efforts to promote entrepreneurship throughout the state through the Ohio I.P. Promise, launched in 2019 through InnovateOhio to make our state university campuses hubs of innovation. U.C. also announced the formation of an innovation advisory council, which Lt. Governor Husted will chair.

Also on *Friday*, Ohio Department of Health opened acall center to answer questions regarding COVID-19. The call center will be open 7 days a week from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and can be reached at *1-833-4-ASK-ODH* (*1-833-427-5634*).
