John,
I was brought into this world via an emergency forceps delivery when my mother was nearly denied admission to the hospital for the color of her skin.
I've survived domestic violence. I've been homeless. I was a single mom.
I even had to fight tooth and nail to become the first Black girl on my high school cheerleading team.
And because of the adversity I've faced, I fight every single day for a more progressive future for all. I know exactly what working people and marginalized people in this country are up against, and that's precisely why I'll do whatever it takes to fight for them.
I'm running for Senate – where only 3 Black women have served - because our democracy should reflect the very people politicians are tasked to serve.
But right now, I'm statistically tied among informed voters. I need to raise $25,000 before my midnight fundraising deadline tonight, and I'm counting on grassroots donors like you to get there.
John, please: Will you chip in to my historic campaign for Senate to help me hit my goal and support my mission of building a more progressive future for all?

Thank you,
– Barbara
