Team,

Fourteen years ago today, I walked into the headquarters of the CIA in Langley, Virginia for my first day of work as a Middle East analyst. I was called to serve because of the attacks of 9/11, and I’m proud to be part of the generation of Americans who stepped up to protect our nation after the worst terrorist attack in our history.

Now, it’s a privilege to help some of my former colleagues continue serving in new roles.

I remember the first time in 2006 that I met Elissa Slotkin, a rising star CIA analyst working on Iraq during the height of the insurgency. Elissa showed me the impact an analyst could have on issues of life or death for Americans fighting there and epitomized the kind of public servant we all wanted to be. Today, she’s a Member of Congress from Michigan.

I remember in 2010 when I was introduced to Andy Kim, a Rhodes scholar and PhD from Oxford who chose to use that immense knowledge to tackle some of the toughest national security problems of our day—Iraq and Afghanistan—working for some of the top strategic minds of those conflicts. Today, he’s a Member of Congress from New Jersey.

After I went to work at the State Department in 2013, I remember watching our human rights Assistant Secretary Tom Malinowski make sure every single U.S. diplomat, no matter how senior or junior, was paying attention to the consequences of our policies felt by citizens around the world, not just governments. Today, he’s also a Member of Congress from New Jersey.

Serve America was proud to endorse these patriots and so many more in 2018, and we are proud to continue supporting them today.

But my support for them isn’t political. It isn’t partisan. It’s personal.

I know that, after the past few years, your support for them has become personal too. You’ve watched them lead in Congress on issues from foreign policy to health care to holding President Trump accountable.

Now I’m asking you to take the next step. I’m asking you today to invest in the next generation of leaders who are following in Elissa’s, Andy’s, and Tom’s footsteps. The Serve America Victory Fund supports eight new candidates in House races across the country, all of whom have spent their lifetimes committed to service and were inspired by our 2018 class.

Will you make a generous contribution of whatever you can afford today so that we can fulfill our mission of helping our incredible, endorsed candidates win across the country?

These last few years have shown us how critical it is to have better leaders in Washington. Help us get them there.
