Hey, John,

It feels kind of unreal to say this, but the 2024 General Election is exactly one year from today. On November 5 next year, voters all over the country will head to the polls and cast their ballots in one of the most important elections of our lifetimes.

Not to be bleak, but we’ve seen how the standing water in which fascism breeds has developed in our country the last few years, and we’re rapidly approaching a point of no return if we don’t change course.

In one year, we vote in the general election. In four months, we pass the hurdle of primary day. That means that we’ve just got a couple more months of runway before the Republicans amp up and start throwing everything they have at us. Just a couple more months before attack ads start hitting the air waves and we’re in the fight of our lives to spread the truth.

We need to be ready: [link removed]

We need to be able to respond to their attacks and misinformation. We need to be able to share our message with voters in every corner of the state. Building a livable future for our children, one where everyone has access to the same opportunities no matter their zip code, will hinge on whether or not Democrats succeed in 2024. And we’ll be out of time before we know it.

I believe in our message. I believe in our movement. I believe that our communities are ready for a government that invests in them. I believe that folks want a government that understands that our greatest asset is our people. I believe that North Carolina is ready to hope again. And I’m not the only one who’s taken notice—while I was out on the campaign trail this weekend, I may have noticed one or two other statewide candidates whose messaging suddenly includes language that sounds a lot like what I’ve been saying for years.

(They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.)

But the hardest part is going to be getting that message out there. Between now and March, we need to finish building out truly comprehensive, state-wide campaign infrastructure that can reach every voter we need, whether they live in Maggie Valley or Hidden Valley.

And that’s where I once again need to ask for your help: with one year to go until election day, will you please make a contribution to this campaign? The strength of this campaign is measured in the grassroots, and when we all stand together, any amount will help set us up for success. John, can I count on you?
