Providing Support to Our Sacred Ally Israel
|
This week, the House passed the Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, which would provide Israel with $14.3 billion in emergency aid—offset by recisions from President Biden's Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, specifically the inflated funding for the IRS.
Israel is the United States’ strongest ally in the Middle East, and I support Israel’s right to defend itself against the heinous and barbaric terrorist attacks being carried out by Hamas. This bipartisan legislation not only provides Israel with much-needed resources as they fight this evil, but it also claws back President Biden’s unnecessary IRS funding. I was proud to vote in support of this bill and I urge my Senate colleagues to take immediate action.

Condemning Support for Hamas on College Campuses
|
I spoke on the House floor in support of H. Res. 798, a resolution condemning the recent surge in support for Hamas, Hezbollah, and other terrorist organizations at institutions of higher education.
This is not just a cause for concern; it's an outrageous affront to the principles of peace, tolerance, and safety that our educational institutions should champion.
As a cosponsor of H. Res. 798, I was proud the House passed this resolution with bipartisan support. It's time to take a stand, to safeguard the well-being of our students, and to uphold the principles that our nation holds dear.

Op-Ed: Biden's Joint-Employer Rule is Bad for Workers
|
Last week, the Biden Administration handed down a heaping dose of economic obstruction by way of a burdensome rulemaking to re-define joint-employment relationships.
Radical members of President Biden’s National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) finalized a broad joint-employer standard that will negatively impact the U.S. economy, workers, and small businesses alike, and to put it plainly would destroy the franchise system as we know it.
Chairman James Comer (KY-01) and I penned an op-ed in the Washington Times sounding the alarm and urging Congress to pass my Employee Rights Act, which would provide much-needed clarity in determining joint-employer status and prevent franchise owners from becoming corporate middle-managers.

Government Funding Update
|
House Republicans are continuing to work on government funding through regular order while reining in reckless Washington spending.
The House of Representatives has now passed seven of our twelve appropriations bills.
PASSED: H.R. 4821, the Fiscal Year 2024 Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Bill: - Provides a reduction in funding by 35% from Fiscal Year 2023 for the Interior and Environment accounts
- Reins in wasteful Washington spending and bureaucracy by rightsizing agency funding levels, expanding access to critical minerals, and requiring oil and gas lease sales
- Repeals the Biden Administration’s Waters of the United States (WOTUS) regulation
- Rescinds $1.4 billion for Environmental and Climate Justice funding provided in the Inflation Reduction Act
- Prohibits the use of funds to promote or advance Critical Race Theory (CRT)

Validate Prior Learning to Accelerate Employment Act
|
I joined Representatives Elise Stefanik (R-NY), Michelle Steel (R-CA), and Julia Letlow (R-LA) in re-introducing the Validate Prior Learning to Accelerate Employment Act. This legislation will accelerate the advancement of job seekers in the workforce by more effectively identifying and validating their existing skills gained through prior work experience, military service, life experience, or education.
Too often qualified job seekers who possess valuable skills from prior work experience are overlooked by employers. But having started my own construction business, I know firsthand how important it is to hire employees with the skills necessary to step right into the job. This legislation will help ensure employers can find qualified job candidates through skills-based hiring and empower more individuals to achieve the American Dream.
