Chinese battery companies are attractive partners for many EV manufacturers due to their proprietary technologies and cost advantage. Chinese batteries have a 30 percent cost advantage over U.S. and European equivalents.

Following the invasion of Ukraine, only 34 member countries out of 195 joined the United States in standing up the Global Export Control Coalition, denoting a lack of buy-in on Russian sanctions from the Global South.
