We’re less than two weeks from a potential government shutdown, and House Republicans are attaching extremist policies to must-pass funding bills.

Here’s a quick look at just a few of their right-wing demands:

• Harmful immigration policies that undermine asylum laws and reimplement the Trump-era “remain in Mexico” policy

• Undoing critical progress on climate change and environmental justice

• Attacks on civil rights and fair housing

• Eliminating funding for gun violence prevention

Funding bills should do one thing: provide resources that serve the people.

Write to your representative and senators now and tell them that extremist policies have no place in funding bills. Act now!

While extremist Republicans are demanding cuts that go way beyond agreements struck with President Biden last spring, they also want to use these must-pass funding bills to implement a right-wing ideological agenda that attacks vulnerable communities.

Congress can debate each of these cruel policies individually, but to attach them to must-pass bills to keep the government running is an abuse of their legislative power.

Write to your representative and senators and demand that Congress reject extremist policies in the must-pass government funding bill.
