Happy weekend, friends!

Survival Sunday is a personal note and a round-up of the week's news
and resources for folks who are interested in being prepared. This
curated collection of information is only available to email and Patreon
subscribers.

A PERSONAL NOTE

It should be noted that felines, much like small humans, have no concept
whatsoever of the twice-yearly torture that is Daylight Savings Time.
Neither respects the fact that the large humans who feed them is trying
to combat the loss of a precious hour of sleep nor do they wish to
adjust their body clocks to go to bed at the appropriate time on the
clock either.

So, this missive comes to you today through bleary eyes after my cat
spent thirty minutes parkouring off me, insistent on rousing me while I
tried to sleep just a little bit more. I finally got up and locked her
out of the room, after which she flung herself at my door, meow-sobbing
piteously.

I have a feeling today may require extra coffee for many of us...

 

I'm having a lot of trouble wrapping my head around the scene in
Washington, DC, yesterday.

Pro-Palestine protesters marched on the nation's capital, demanding a
ceasefire. I've seen different numbers - anywhere from 100,000 people to
300,000 people filled the streets of Washington, DC.

Historic monuments were vandalized. Anti-Jewish and anti-Israel graffiti
was spray-painted on buildings. The very gate to the White House was
vandalized, the pillars holding it up covered with red handprints.

But that wasn't the thing that struck at my heart the most.

People literally had Hezbollah flags right in front of the White House,
waving them without shame. Hezbollah is a terrorist organization from
Iran with an absolutely brutal human rights track record. People were
climbing up the gates of the White House, waving foreign flags. The
chants were "F*** Joe Biden," "Death to Israel," and "Ahallu Akbar."
They screamed at the Secret Service officers, "Die!"

kid-friendly - there's a lot of swearing.)

But don't be alarmed. Our President wasn't there. He was in Delaware,
vacationing safely away from the anger of these people. And our VP
Kamala Harris wants to make sure that we're not Islamaphobic - this
video she made is an
absolute slap in the face to Jewish Americans.

Meanwhile, in most of the mainstream media, there was little mention of
this event. Here's some of the coverage that was found

It's mostly conservative media. Zero Hedge also covered it
,
but most of it was on X (formerly Twitter.)

Imagine for a moment that conservatives were climbing the White House
fence. Or someone with Confederate flags. Do you think there'd be a
media blackout? Do you think that police would be breaking it up with
tear gas and billy clubs? Recent history suggests that the response
would've been entirely different. Just ask the folks who were hunted
down for the events of January 6th.

I guess consistency across political lines is too much to ask.

Much like the destructive BLM riots and demands took away sympathy for
George Floyd and other Black Americans killed in altercations with
police, these kinds of events are prompting me to take sides - and it's
not the side they wish. I've always had sympathy and compassion for the
Palestinian people, but it's certainly not being increased by these
actions. These people are propagating hate.

I stand with the Jewish Americans who are in literal fear for their
lives right now. They're watching a massive spike in antisemitism all
over the world.

In the 1930s-40s, people stood by and watched it happen. We are seeing
demands for the death of Jews right now. We cannot allow our country to
be a place where it's no longer safe to be Jewish. I'm shocked by how
fast this has unfolded.

It has to stop.
