Last night, the state of Alabama executed an innocent man. His name was Nathaniel Woods.
Our criminal INJUSTICE system is racist, xenophobic, rogue, and fundamentally broken. That’s why I introduced The People’s Justice Guarantee — to dismantle and radically transform our system of mass incarceration through a large-scale decarceration effort.
The People’s Justice Guarantee calls for finally abolishing the death penalty, which is a cruel, draconian punishment that has no place in a just society. Period.

The trauma created by our criminal INJUSTICE system lasts for generations. I will continue to fight to end these cycles of trauma by pushing forward our fight to finally end the death penalty.
