Hi Friend,
While Super Tuesday was a major inflection point in the Democratic presidential primary, it also marked the start of the general election for our first 28 candidates across North Carolina and Texas. These highly competitive state races will decide not only the fate of fair voting maps during redistricting in 2021, but also Democrats’ ability to pass life-changing policies.
You can help these North Carolina and Texas Democrats build transformative majorities in the states this November. First, let’s take a look at some of the candidates—and why they’re running.
Reproductive Justice in North Carolina
On top of state-mandated anti-abortion counseling and a required ultrasound, North Carolinians must wait three days before receiving an abortion, which means two separate trips to the clinic. Flippable candidate Rep. Sydney Batch of House District 37 is a strong advocate for reproductive rights: In 2019, she returned to the state House early from her cancer recovery to help Democrats block a GOP anti-abortion bill. Rep. Batch is one of 20 inspiring Democrats we’re supporting in North Carolina this year.
Affordable Health Care in Texas
Texas holds the highest uninsured rate in the country—now more than double the national average—because it’s one of the 14 states (along with North Carolina) that refuses to pass Medicaid expansion. Flippable candidate Brandy Chambers is running against a 10-year GOP incumbent in House District 112 who has repeatedly voted against legislation that would extend coverage to more than 1.1 million uninsured Texans, including over 600,000 children. Brandy is one of eight official Democratic nominees in our Texas target races, while four more races are headed to run-offs in May.

Brandy and Rep. Batch are just two of the dozens of candidates running to bring real change to their communities by flipping seats in the states. By donating to the Flippable Fund today, you can help these Democrats—and our forthcoming 2020 candidates—run strong campaigns in the most competitive districts.
