Hey John —
Wanted to loop you in on a memo I just sent around to the team. We’re in the strongest position possible (see below) to take on Republican Senator Thom Tillis and flip this Senate seat come November.
But there’s also some bad news. This is expected to be one of the most expensive races in the country, and we’re up against a serious GOP fundraising advantage — and they’ll spend whatever it takes to save Tillis and keep this seat red.
We’ve come to a critical turning point in this campaign and we cannot afford to fall behind now. So if you can swing it, can we count on you to add a donation to Cal’s campaign for U.S. Senate?
Here’s the best link to give: [link removed]
Thanks. Keep reading below for the memo I just sent around.

Hi all,
I’m so proud of our strong victory on Tuesday, and the efforts of our staff and volunteers. Despite Mitch McConnell’s failed multi-million dollar meddling effort to protect his most vulnerable incumbent Thom Tillis, Cal is entering the general election in a strong position by all measures. We know our race will be the most competitive and critical race of this election cycle, so here’s where things stand:
+ Tillis is vulnerable. His approval rating (an embarrassing 34%) is the lowest of any incumbent Senator because North Carolinians are fed up with his failed leadership.
+ Cal is strong. He has support from all 100 counties in North Carolina, and the latest poll of our race has him up five points because folks know he’s the independent leader they deserve.
+ Sabato’s Crystal Ball, Inside Elections, and POLITICO rate this race a “toss-up.”
Tillis has more than $5 million in the bank, and we know Mitch McConnell has millions more set aside for him. It’s absolutely critical we match these funds as soon as possible to combat the attacks that are sure to come our way. If you know of anyone who might be able to help us out, here’s the link to donate: [link removed]
Tillis is too weak to do what’s right. He refused to stand up to the president when $80 million in military funding for North Carolina was on the line. He voted to take away protections for 1.7 million North Carolinians living with pre-existing conditions. He voted for the GOP tax bill which gave a massive break to the wealthy while leaving everyday families behind.
We all know Cal is running for U.S. Senate to take on the corruption in Washington that has kept us from making progress on the most important issues facing North Carolinians, like making health care and education more affordable and creating an economy that works for everyone.
North Carolina deserves better than a yes-man. Thanks for helping build a people-powered movement that can go toe-to-toe with the GOP’s massive fundraising haul and win this Senate seat.
On to November!
