It's Fishing Time in Alabama

Dear John??
The coronavirus continues to dominate the news here in Washington and around
the world.? As I mentioned to you in last week?s message, preparation is always
better than panic.?? And preparing is exactly what the Trump Administration has
been doing.??This week, Congress took action by allocating additional resources
so that our country is prepared at all levels ? federal, state, and local ? to
protect our citizens.?
There has been, in my opinion, a lot of unwarranted criticism of the
Administration?s response.? Most of this has come, not from a?place?of concern,
but in trying to score political points.? Vice President Pence has made
fighting this virus his top priority.? He has given Congress frequent updates
and has been flying around the country to ask local leaders, and health care
professionals, what they need from the federal government.? I continue to be
confident in the President and Vice President?s leadership.
At the time of this writing, there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in
Alabama.? However, in order to put our state on the strongest footing to be
prepared, Governor Ivey has formed a task force in Alabama.? This task force
will be chaired by the State Health Officer and comprised of the Governor and
Lt. Governor, and state leaders from the legislature, infectious disease
specialists, hospital and nursing home associations, and state cabinet members
representing education, economic development, law enforcement, human resources,
and emergency management.? I am confident that this team of experts will help
alleviate the impact of the virus on the health and economy of our state.
??????? Remember, The latest information on the virus can be found at CDC.gov

On a much more positive note, the 50th?Bassmaster Classic got underway on
Lake Guntersville Friday morning.? All of the fishing will take place on the
lake and then weigh-ins will be held each day at the BJCC in Birmingham.

This is the third time the classic has come to Guntersville, and the second
time in just the last six years.? I know the folks with Bassmaster were very
impressed with the way Guntersville rolled out the red carpet for all the
anglers the last time they hosted the Classic.? So, it?s no surprise they came
back.?? I would like to welcome all these fishing pros back to Alabama?s Lake
City and good luck this weekend on beautiful Lake Guntersville.

More info on the Classic can be found?here. <[link removed]>

I hope you have a great weekend!

?

???????????Sincerely,

???? <[link removed]>
