Did you know that the Farm Bill expired in September, friends?
As a district with almost 3,000 farms and some of the most fertile soil in the country, agriculture is the number one economic driver in communities throughout Central and Southern Illinois.
That’s why I’m calling for my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to work alongside me to get the Farm Bill across the finish line and renew essential programs that farmers and families in our district and across the country rely on.
If we fail to meet this moment with the urgency it deserves, we'll leave dairy farmers without the support they need, which would cause milk and other dairy product prices to skyrocket, leave young and family farmers without access to critical crop insurance, and sap funding from nutrition programs like SNAP — which helps assist families who may not have access to healthy and nutritious food.
I know we’ve seen partisan games and politics define Congress, especially over the last few weeks, but we must prioritize communities across our country and pass this bipartisan bill that will expand job opportunities, put food on the table, and provide our farmers with the resources they deserve.
I need a strong team standing with me in the fight to get the 2023 Farm Bill passed without delay. Please add your name to my petition calling on Congress to pass this critical legislation now >>
Thanks for standing with me.
