| Friend, Rep. Mike Johnson is now the most powerful election denier in the government. Before being elected Speaker of the House, Johnson was the literal architect of a scheme to undermine the Constitution so extreme that even the current corrupt Supreme Court didn’t go for it. He was the author of the “independent state legislature” theory that would have given MAGA Republicans the power to throw out the will of the people in the 2020 election.(1) Three years later, Johnson STILL hasn’t admitted that Donald Trump lost the election. And now he is in charge of all of the legislation that will move forward in the House of Representatives -- including election law. The American people deserve a leader that tells the truth about our democracy. Courage California has joined a coalition of pro-democracy advocates to demand that Speaker Johnson admit that Trump lost. Will you sign on with us today?
Johnson has only been Speaker for a few weeks, but he’s already proven himself to be one of the most extreme representatives we’ve ever seen. He has stated that the U.S. doesn’t have a gun problem, that evolution isn’t proven science, that the church should influence government, and that homosexuality is a sin.(2) But there perhaps isn’t any more important tenet to our government than accepting election results, and it’s critical that the Speaker of the House agrees. Johnson will be in charge of election legislation, and if he is going to undermine that, we need to know now. That’s why we must put as much pressure as possible on Johnson to answer the 2020 election question. Will you help us call on Speaker Mike Johnson to answer the question of Trump’s loss?
